FHE-the sweetness of sacrifice

Our Monday night Family Home Evening was short and simple.  I taught a little lesson about sacrifice.  When we do hard thingsor things that take time and effort, it softens or "breaks" our hearts allowing them to be filled by the Savior.  Our eyes become open to the goodness and are better able to appreciate it (learning an instrument, family history work, church service, community service,  etc).   Motherhood is an example of sacrifice that can soften a heart and bring about tremendous gratitude for the very beings that are the cause of the sacrifice.  Anything that we put our time and effort into has a power  to change for the better the way we think and feel.

With the lesson, I made these cute pie hearts.  I love pie (the crust is the best)!  I wanted to do this for Valentines, but never got around to it.  Aren't they cute!  The filling is like the "sweet" gratitude we feel in our hearts for the many blessings we've been given. I actually started with the hearts and found the lesson to go with them.  Whatever works...just as long as we could have pie.:)

We had a beautiful sunrise the other day.

On Monday, Abby didn't even make it half way home from Preschool.
She works (plays) so hard.
