Another one of my babies is getting older! Sometimes that is good and sometimes I just want them to stay the way they are so they will stay my babies. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, Rachel didn't listen to me and she has continued to get older.
She's always been beautiful, smart and open to people. When little, someone referred to her as a "flower child" sharing sunshine. Once in church, we looked down the pew to find her next to a couple she didn't know, playing with the man's tie. We've lost her several times (water park, amusement park, neighborhood, and airport) because she didn't ever think a stranger would hurt her. Thankfully, she was protected and good people returned her to us. We used a leash after that. No matter what other people said or thought of us, we didn't want to feel that panic again.
Rachel is so good to help when I need. She often goes the extra mile. She's kind, funny, easy to be around, conscientious and a true blessing. I'm so thankful we've had her sunny smile and generous spirit in our family all these years. She's only scratched the surface of who she is but her father and I can see what's lying underneath. I look forward to watching her discover her true eternal potential.
