And it begins...

This is only a small portion of the papers I had to sign for school!  I wish there were some way that I could just sign once and photocopy it.  Every single teacher of my 5 school bound children had a syllabus and class rules that I had to read and sign.  When she gathered her papers from me, Bekah asked if I had read her papers.  I said, not really since I had read it before.  They all basically say to be on time, study hard, be nice and obey the rules.  I think that we as parents had already covered that, but I signed dutifully anyway.

On a more positive note, this is what is left of the "1st school day cookies".  I'm proud to say that I controlled myself and limited my cookie dough consumption and only had one cookie.  That is a real feat for me!

Anyway, the day was a perfect "1st day".  It was a little cloudy and cool like I remembered as a kid.  I love the changing of the seasons!  Then as the day wore on the clouds cleared and it was  beautifully sunny.  I packed everyone up, kissed and hugged them goodbye and Abi and I watched them get on their buses.  I was able to get a lot done and even played with Abigail, just her and I.  After lunch she went down for a nap and I got more done.
I was taking a picture of the house for Esther's homework "about me" and started playing with the camera.  Caught this guy on our lantana.

When everyone got home, they each smiled as they handed me those stacks of papers.  I told them to just put them down and I would get to them. Then started the evening rush just as I remembered: homework, listening, talking, piano lessons, football practice, & cross country practice.  Thankfully, Sarah is stepping in and being a tremendous help.  She made dinner and took Matt to football.  Not only has she been a great help since she's been here, but I truly enjoy having her around.

I think we are off to a good start!!
