A Zeus for Roxie....um...for us!!

Anybody that's been to our house knows that we have a very anxious dog named Roxie.  She's a rescue that may not have gotten all the love she needed as a puppy because she's afraid of her own shadow.  We've had a couple trainers and have taken her to the dog park to help socialize her.  She's improved but still is pretty anxious.

I thought maybe she could use a friend to play with but that would mean convincing Joseph.  Thankfully he loves Roxie.  Every time I mentioned it I could see him thinking about it and softening a little.  "If" we ever did it, we swore we would never get a puppy again because of all the work.  It would have to be an older dog, at least 2 yrs old.

When we were in Texas for the funeral we visited a family with puppies as an emotional uplift from the grief.  We immediately fell in love.  We totally forgot our older dog pact. Our conversation about helping Roxie resurfaced not to mention the fact that I've always loved Golden Retrievers, they are cuddlers (Roxie is not), good family dogs, and...well...we all fell in LOVE. Done!

Meet Zeus!
Joseph flew back to Texas this past weekend to pick him up.
We thought the park would be a neutral place for him to meet Roxie.
She was anxious to meet him and he wanted to meet everyone.

Next step was to take them home.

Last step, inside the house.

That's when things changed.
Zeus tried really hard to play with Roxie but she just walked away.
They were actually going in circles with Zeus chasing her.
Under Dad's leg was a good place for her to hide.

Zeus liked laying under the ottoman.
I've had to move all my books
Look at that face!!

Roxie's not so sure about this invasion.
But finally has decided to play with him, a little.

Hopefully our little "therapist" will work his magic with Roxie.
I know he sure has worked for us already!!
FYI, there's one more puppy left in Texas!!  message me! ;)
