Last night Matthew came running into my room to tell me that there was a dear in our yard. I could hear the kids scrambling to look out the back windows. Apparently that wasn't good enough, Matt took a camera on the deck to take a picture. I would post it except it's just a black square. I was sitting on the couch when they came back in. Abigail was wailing at the top of her lungs about the deer leaving. I could hardly understand her jumble of deer...mommy....baby....outside....gone.... home. The kids had apparently tried to explain why the deer left. I quickly concentrated on her obsession with anything that has a baby or parents (she's even pretended that the toothbrushes are a family of mommy, daddy, and baby). Surely the mommy deer needed to go home to her babies and the daddy deer so that she could take care of them. She had a home too and needed to go there. She gasped her last few sobs and finally accepted my explanation and layed down on the floor to watch TV. Drama!!
