More birthday festivities

The 'little guy' even littler.

More birthday festivities!  One week after Jacob's b-day is Matt's.  He turned 11 yrs-old on Fri.  My how time flies.  I used to call him my "sweetie Petey" (?) when he was little.  For those that know him, he is full of enough energy to share with ten people.  He speaks loudly, is eager to please, smart, and inquisitive.  He wants to know how things work so much that I find the results of his "exploring" all over the house.  Once, I remember going through the house and could find something he destroyed in every room of the house (paint, blinds, carpet, figurines, you get the picture)  Just the other day I noticed the garage door had been spray painted in two places!  To his credit, he fessed up as soon as I asked him.

Matt's friends, Steve, Matt, Jack.  Ethan and Jared came over later.
Matthew was so excited for his birthday to come.  He had been talking about it for a while.  He and Jacob set up the 5 man tent in the back yard for he and his friends to sleep in.  They had a silly string fight and played capture the flag in the dark.  I went to bed early (10 pm) and left hubby to monitor the fun.  He kept checking on them until they finally went to sleep at 2:30 am.
Grandparents and friends were very very nice to Matt.
Today we had our family party (yes, two parties every year for each child) which consisted of the left over sweets from the night before (Matt had cheesecake) and our gifts to him.  He was over joyed to get a PSP.  For those of you who don't know (like me) it is a hand held game like a souped up game-boy--too cool!  Then came the tradition of going for Krispy Kreme with Dad.  It used to be in the morning so we would all eat them for breakfast, but we can't ever seem to fit the trip in the morning with scriptures, prayer and Seminary.  Of course they sell Krispy Kreme at the grocery store but there's nothing better than warm and fresh donuts so they put the trip off until they can get them fresh.  Every time, Dad sits down and has  a donut or two with the birthday child .

I'm so thankful for having Matthew in our lives.  He certainly has spiced our life up and has brought a lot of joy.
