Esther's 9!

Today is our sweet Esther's birthday.  She turned 9!  The other day she asked me if a birthday was important.  Of course!!  It's a celebration of being born and your time here on earth.  It's very important!  She then asked for her birth story and after sorting all the births through my mind I exclaimed "You're the one that wasn't supposed to take all day but you did!"  You would think that #7 would be a breeze, but she decided to be breech and folded up wrong to boot.  Her birth was also the only one that I decided to get an epidural.  That with the breech slowed things down to a 12 hour labor.  On the bright side I got to sleep through part of it.

Because she didn't have her legs folded nicely but had her feet over her head, her hip sockets didn't form properly.  So for several months she wore leg braces that held her legs in place so the sockets could continue to form.  She even learned to crawl in them.  Sadly her baby pictures are on a computer that crashed and I can't find anyone to get them off.

She's been a cutie since day one.  I even sent her picture into a modeling competition for fun but nothing came of it.  She always seems to be singing or skipping and loves to talk about what interests her.
We make homemade cake every year and the kids can help decorate it if they want.  You can see some of her handiwork in this picture.  She also got to go on a special donut run with Dad today.  Just the two go and pick out donuts at Krispy Kreme but not until they've had a warm one right of the conveyor belt.

Last weekend she also got special time with Dad at the county's daddy/daughter dance.  She and I went shopping for a new dress and Dad got her a corsage

Many of her friends were dancing with each other but
Esther danced with Dad all night.
