Popcorn popping on the...cherry tree

I took advantage of Abi's innocent believing the other day.  We were driving somewhere when I pointed out the trees had popcorn on them.  It took her a moment then she brightened up and became really excited.  She started talking about the song she sings on Sunday in Primary; "I looked out the window and what did I see, popcorn popping on the apricot tree.  Spring has brought me such a nice surprise, blossoms popping right before my eyes."  It was as though the song came to life for her.
Then, at home, I realized that our own tree had "popcorn" on it. I hesitated to tell her for fear of ending the innocent belief, but I wanted to see what she would do.   Abi started walking toward the tree excited that she was going to pick popcorn for her and I.  I said that it sounded good and followed her to the corner of our yard.  Of course when she came close, she slowed down and said, "It's not popcorn....it's flowers!"  Thankfully, her disappointment wasn't an issue because the flowers were so pretty.
I love the simple faith of a child.  They are so quick to believe with all their heart.  How appropriate that the Lord asks us to become as a little child, believing, humble, and full of love.
I want to be like Abi when I grow up.
Matthew would really rather use the riding mower but will settle for the leaf blower until he's tall enough.
Esther needed her picture taken too.
The first fruits of our labors from the fall.
Happy Spring!
