What's real to a 3-yr-old? Everything!

Over the weekend (I know I'm a few days late) we bought Abi a "tiny Rapunzel" (as Abi calls it) with her long hair in a lovely braid.  When we showed it to her, she was overjoyed and could hardly contain herself.  It wasn't long before Rapunzel was chumming around with the other "tiny" princesses and trading clothes with them.
The next thing I know, I hear Abigail sobbing.  Esther comes down the stairs to tell me that Abi cut Rapunzel's hair.  Sad to say, my first thought was not one of sympathy.  As a child I never cut my dolls hair or colored on them like my friends did.  I've tried to teach my girls to take care of their dolls as well but that has been a hit or miss.  Rapunzel was obviously a miss.

Abi then walked in the room and buried her face in the couch (she is very dramatic).  Then it occurred to me (I'm slow) that she might have been reliving the movie when Flynn Ryder cuts her hair and it turns brown.  So I asked her why she cut her hair....sob...sob....  "Did you cut it like in the movie?"  ...yes...  "Her hair didn't turn brown did it?" ....no....sob.... "She is just a doll. She's not real. Her hair won't change or grow back. I'm sorry." .....sniffle....sob....sniffle....  "Let's put a pony tail in her hair."  .....okay!   whew! problem solved.

Not long after that I'm doing something upstairs when I hear Abi yelling my name from downstairs.  I walk over to see what she wants.  She is just beside herself when she tells me, "Mom!  I saw Rapunzel on the TV!  She's alive!!  She's alive!!" ....um...do I dare buy another Rapunzel?
Abi got to go to Tanglewood Park with her friend Kaylan today.  This is a picture of a nice horse but
unfortunately there were some foals who were a little more curious and took a little nip of Abi's finger.
She obviously was hurt and very offended by this but I was told that when she stopped crying, she
went back to petting the other horses.  A true "horsewoman".
