Karissa's 2nd reception in the country, sleeping chickens and all

I was thrilled to find out that the groom's side of the family was having a reception at their ranch (my someday dream).  The weather was cooler and the yard was perfect.  We especially enjoyed the wonderful swing.

At the end, the bridesmaids and groomsmen gathered together to light the lanterns that were to be released with the playing of the romantic song from Tangled (Karissa's favorite).  The lanterns were even rainbow colored.  Unfortunately, the wind picked up.  So after two lanterns blew into a tall tree, they decided the idea was enough and reality was too dangerous.

The next morning, we were all invited back for a family breakfast.  The food was delicious, the weather gorgeous, and we learned how to put a chicken to sleep.

Then we all gathered around to watch Karissa and Allen open presents.  The horses were a big attraction (I appreciated that they observed the Sabbath and didn't ride).  And I finally got a close-up of Karissa's rainbow nails.

On our way out of town, I wanted the kids to see the petrified forest, but didn't want to spend money on the Sabbath.  So we stopped on the side of the road for the kids to get a closer look.  They are not really smiling about experiencing something new, but laughing at the idea of stopping to look at rocks.  kids.
Nonetheless, they can say they did it.

This is the end of my posts on the wedding.  I actually took over 800 pictures and would love to share more but it wouldn't interest everyone, plus it would take forever!
I'll post some on facebook.  The family is really the only ones that want to see them anyway.
Good night!

Karissa's wedding, 1st reception

Of course there always has to be a celebration after the joining of two hearts.
We had a great time at a beautiful reception with dinner, candy bar, photo booth, dancing, and everything good that comes with a wedding reception.

If you didn't catch it earlier, the colors were rainbow colors.
The cake that they cut was even a layered rainbow of colors.

There's going to be a wedding

Today was an awesome day for 2 reasons.
First, we are going to have a wedding!  There's only been one wedding
in 14 years (my sister's son got married last year, remember?).
Our beautiful niece, Karissa (Joseph's sister's daughter), has found herself a "Prince Charming"
that has swept her off her feet.
Can you tell which of these blondies is her? haha
I know they met each other at school this last semester, but it
seemed to get more exciting when he met her at Disney.  We saw him briefly when we were there, then, they spent the whole next day at Disney together.
We  all embarrassed her when we waved at him and his family.
But you could certainly tell that she had eyes for him even though she
kept saying that she didn't know him that well.
Well, it's 2 weeks later, and she has a ring on her finger.
I guess she knows what she needs to know now.
Congratulations!

My second reason is that I love my kids.  I love that they strive
for their righteous desires and don't give up!
You rock!
